ADW Johnson achieves a key milestone with the Avoca Beach Cinema redevelopment!
We’re pleased to announce that ADW Johnson has successfully secured an amended consent for the redevelopment of the Avoca Beach Cinema, a well-known and loved spot on the Central Coast.
Working closely with the owners, Norman and Beth Hunter, and Johnson Projects, we’ve been able to update the original plans to better fit the needs of the community while preserving the Cinema’s historic character.
The project involved making several key improvements, including internal modifications and redesigning the exterior to enhance connections between the Cinema and the adjoining public areas, such as Hunter Park. A crucial aspect of the work was ensuring that the historic Cinema building remains a part of the new development.
Our role included navigating the new Central Coast LEP, addressing the initial consent requirements, and working with Central Coast Council to tackle issues related to views, flooding, and traffic. We’re pleased to report that our efforts received strong support from the Local Planning Panel, which approved the updated plans.
The Avoca Beach Cinema has been a local favorite since 1948, and this redevelopment will help it continue to serve as a vibrant community hub for years to come. We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important project and look forward to seeing it come to life.
A special thanks to CKDS Architects for their outstanding architectural design work,
