ADWJ see real-life Underbore Works
What an experience! Our Central Coast team recently headed down to Jilliby, the centre of NSW's fastest-growing corridor, to observe real-life construction techniques for complex underbore works for Stage 1 of Warner Industrial Park, developed by Winarch Capital.
The process undertaken by Daracon and Maxibore was a horizontally drilled underbore spanning 157m long and 6.8m deep, with an 8-week construction period. The underbore was constructed to accommodate a 300mm diameter gravity sewer main crossing under Buttonderry Creek.
The site visit gave the team a first-hand look at the challenging geotechnical conditions. Particularly, an intertwining interface of soil and rock was encountered during preliminary test pits. However, the expertise of the drilling team and additional Geotech investigations kept drilling on track and avoided unwanted alignment issues.
This project milestone achieved for Winarch Capital allowed our team an impromptu Q&A session with the contractors, specifically details about the construction methodology.
Thank you to Winarch Capital and Daracon for the chance to experience this complex process first-hand!
