ADWJ's Big Day Out!
February marked the inaugural Big Day Out for our Hunter team! Twenty-five engineers, project managers, surveyors and drafties piled into two minibuses for a day of fun and adventure, seeing first-hand how all of ADW Johnson's services offerings integrate with the overall project over various sites of different stages.
Getting out on-site is an essential part of training the ADWJ team. Providing practical training opportunities to all staff to better understand design constraints in a real-world context.
The itinerary was jam-packed, with the day broken into three stages, viewing:
- A predeveloped site;
- Two sites in construction;
- A fully developed site.
Each site provided an understanding of a project's lifecycle. Project success stories were shared, and fundamental "lessons learned" were taught from on-site cues. The day was completed with a site walk viewing a completed residential subdivision, allowing the group to view their everyday and complex design in built form.
Thank you to Richard Kerr, Cameron Black, Lincoln Gibbs and Chris Wharton for coordinating the visits and sharing your expert knowledge and passion for the industry with the next generation of ADWJ superstars! The lessons learned will undoubtedly be incorporated into their everyday practices and future projects. To our clients whose sites were visited, thank you for your continued collaboration, McCloy Group, Allam Property Group & Defence Housing Australia.
