Verve Wins Big at Newcastle Architecture Awards
Verve Residences were presented by the Australian Institute of Architects with three awards at this year's Newcastle Architecture Awards.
The two tower design, conceived by CKDS Architecture and consisting of 208 residential apartments and retail and commercial spaces, took home the coveted Architecture Medal as well as the award for Residential Architecture - Houses (Multiple Housing) and a commendation for Sustainable Architecture. The judges of the awards affirmed that the project "sets a new standard of urban architecture in Newcastle" and the project is "an exemplar combining public benefits, activation and leading residential design". The Jury chair, Sam Crawford of Sam Crawford Architects, furthered that "the design of the Verve Residences is finely tuned to both human and urban scales" and the project "makes a significant long-term contribution to the urban fabric of Newcastle".
