Coordinating and managing all aspects of development from inception to completion
A critical part of any project is the establishment phase, where our Project Manager’s absorb as much information as possible about the proposed development along with key drivers for our clients. Our team ensure that the pathway forward aligns with our client’s vision and requirements (whether it be reducing upfront costs, expediting delivery, sequencing and more).
A project’s success heavily depends upon early identification of risks and planning a way to resolve these in an efficient manner. Our Project Managers have a comprehensive understanding of all parts of developments and benefit from direct exposure to our other internal disciplines – they can typically identify risk well in advance. We pride ourselves on not only identifying risk, but providing solutions that also consider wider project implications, such as time and costs.
Like projects, risks are not stagnant and our team regularly undertake risk assessments and gap analysis throughout a project’s life, to ensure they run as smoothly as possible.
Our Project Managers routinely seek to find opportunities for projects, whether it be through external funding options, alternate sequencing to better align with client requirements, taking advantage of legislation changes, timing of settlements, to name a few. Over the years, we’ve saved our client’s millions of dollars via looking through a positive lens.
We work with our clients to establish development budgets early in a project’s life and then update them as the project is delivered, ensuring that any movements in professional and authority fees, contributions/levies, construction costs and market pricing are captured.
If required, our team can also manage sub-consultant invoicing for projects, ensuring that budgets are reflective of actual costs and forecast expenditure is as accurate as possible.
Our project managers have practical experience in seeing projects through to completion. At ADW Johnson, we understand the complex construction processes behind projects and navigate them by your side. When you think of practical experience – think ADW Johnson.
Our comprehensive knowledge and understanding of complex processes allow us to craft detailed development programs to provide confidence that key milestones can be achieved. We work with our clients to update these as the project timeline progresses.
Our project programs are tailored for the intended audience – an effective timeframe summary can sometimes be more beneficial than a 100-line Gantt chart! We get it!
The ability to communicate effectively is often the difference between a quick outcome or a prolonged one. Our team are confident, respectful, and understand how critical it is to form relationships with key stakeholders.
We regularly train our team in public speaking, along with chairing internal meetings, listening to different points of view and then expressing their own point of view in a respectful manner.
Our team can represent your project confidently and professionally to all key stakeholders, whether internal PCG meetings, Government agencies/authorities, wider project teams, or community presentations.
Our team have a comprehensive understanding of development processes and the various approvals required for your project. We regularly manage these processes for clients, ensuring that when packages are submitted, they address all requirements. We then work with authorities through the assessment phase to secure the relevant approval.
The broad range of projects we work on across multiple locations means that we work with many sub-consultants and have a good understanding of their strengths/weaknesses, therefore ensuring we recommend the best ones for the given project.
Our Project Managers regularly write briefs and source fee proposals from sub-consultants, along with assessment of their proposal and providing recommendations to our clients. Once engaged, we then manage the sub-consultants, ensuring their deliverables are in alignment with requirements of the project, along with assessment of invoices and providing recommendations for payment to our clients.
A key point of difference to many other Project Managers is that the experience of our team allows them to thoroughly review and critique sub-consultant work, questioning recommendations where we believe it is necessary. If there is something they don’t understand or doesn’t seem right, they’ll ask the sub-consultants to explain – if we can’t understand it, there is a high likelihood the approval authority team won’t either!
Our team have extensive experience in developing and coordinating infrastructure servicing strategies for developments. Find out more at Infrastructure Works.
ADW Johnson is a member of many industry associations and we encourage our team to take-up positions within them. These positions give our team exposure to many key stakeholders, an understanding of key industry issues, and a platform to advocate for change. We’re proud of the work our team has done, and continues to do, in this space.
As a company, we work on many large projects that are high-profile, complex and attract a lot of attention. We can use our industry positions and connections to advocate on behalf of clients and bring knowledge of wider issues back to clients for consideration in their own developments.
Another strength of ours is our knowledge of funding options available and working with partners to secure funding for developments. We have a long history of working with Councils and developers to secure funding to deliver key pieces of infrastructure to unlock areas – saving our client’s millions of dollars along the way!
