Greta to Branxton Water Main
Greta to Branxton Water Main
ADW Johnson was engaged to design the 2.2km extension to the current DN375 trunk watermain north of Greta along the New England Highway. The extension of the trunk watermain was a requirement of the Huntlee Bulk Water strategy. ADW Johnson was able to provide a full suite of services to the Developer through concept and detailed design, obtaining the necessary environmental and controlled activity approvals through to supervising and superintending the construction works.
Planning
ADW Johnson prepare the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) to assess the potential for environmental impacts of the project and provide safeguards for the construction and operation of the asset. The REF was approved by Hunter Water Corporation under Part 5 of the EP&A Act.
Engineering
ADW Johnson prepared the detailed design plans for the 2.2km DN375 trunk watermain extension. Detailed design included survey, services location, trenchless thrust bore design, liaising with all approval authorities including RMS, Local Council and Hunter Water.
A requirement of the design was to provide a flow limiting orifice plate valve that was required to operate until the next stage of the trunk watermain was upgraded. ADW Johnson specified the correct valve and design the valve pit arrangement to ensure HWC requirements and long-term operational needs were achieved.
Supervision
ADW Johnson managed the construction supervision and superintendency on behalf of the client. ADW tendered the works, assessed tenders and recommended the preferred contractor for the project. ADW Johnson then managed all aspects of the contract administration and the site supervision during the construction of the asset. The project was completed on time and within budget.
